Overall I think it will be very beneficial!!
I also wanted to update you guys on the prints I made below. They were done at Sol Print Studios. The workshops are fabulous. Check out this link to visit their blog: http://solprintstudios.blogspot.com/
It is really a fabulous place to work and learn various techniques in printing! I absolutely love taking the workshops. All of the prints I posted below were done at a few different sessions of the workshops. Check it out her or on my website under news and links!!!

Hello All! These past two weeks have been the weeks of workshops. The workshops were just fabulous! I took a resin workshop at the MICA jewelry studio which was fantastic, it gave me many ideas about how to incorporate resin into jewelry. I made some great sample pieces which I will soon be posting pictures of. I think it is going to be something great to explore in my work! I also took Soledad's workshop for a week that was all about prints. I made a few of these prints in the workshop. The newest one from the workshop is the one bottom right. I really think this one is successful, I loved breaking out if the rectangular format. Then I did a workshop this past weekend, to further my knowledge if encaustic print making. This workshop was great I learned alot about alternative materials I could use in encaustic. I loved the workshops and cant wait to get making new pieces utilizing the techniques I learned.
On another note I am also involved in a show in Tucson. The very first image on the left is a piece that is at the show. This whole collection at the show are drawings and prints on photographs that I have manipulated. These pieces are also a new way of working for me. I really enjoyed blending the drawing into the photograph. The show should be great many other fabulous artists will be participating. So if your in Tucson stop in and take a look!
The prints I posted are a mix of old and new prints from various workshops and shows. They are so fun and I love making them.
Check back soon to see more images of new works!!!
Best,
Gloria

This is Truly Amazing!

Hello all!
I have found this truly amazing video. It really speaks about why art is so important and how art can really transform a environment and a way of thinking.
This video is a talk that Janet Echelman gives explaining how she came to be involved in art. Her work is fabulous. The colors the way the pieces are made are truly inspiring. She is so articulate and amazing. I hope you all love it. I think it is absolutely fabulous!!!!

Adventures in Resin

Hello All!
I have just returned from a trip to Canyon Ranch in Tucson. It was absolutely fabulous! Its good to be back and working hard.
I have been working on creating some new pieces that involve printing on the polymer. I love the way the prints add color and pattern to the jewelry. It is so exciting to mix jewelry making and printmaking! With these new pieces I have been experimenting with different resins. I think the resin adds a great glossy look as well as strengthen the clay. However resin is very fickle. Resin does not like sticking to plastic so putting it directly on the polymer has not been successful. If you don't mix the resin really well it will take weeks to harden. I love the appearance so I have not given up on it yet.
I have recently made some head way with the resin. It is so fabulous looking I just love the way they look. The pictures are of the resin experimenting and some of the newer pieces. I hope you all love them as much as I do!!!

I'm baaaack!

Here I am back from my fabulous adventures in Tucson and thinking about spring. I had my annual "what should I be when I grow up?", crisis and now I'm ready to work again.
I'll write more later about Tucson and the Gem show this is just to say hello and show you a couple of pictures of winter necklaces that I didn't have time to show you before I left and a brand new, happy spring necklace.

Since I'm still trying to figure out this blogging thing the photos didn't quite come out the order or placement I wanted but you get the idea. I read an article about jewelry photography that suggested using different kinds of backgrounds so here are some of my first attempts. I like the first two the best. What do you think? Let me know. Thanks
